I REALLY HOPE THERE'S A SEASON 2! Watching this anime again, I sort of get Jirou a little more. He and Akari are similar in the fact that they're both sensitive when when it comes to expressing their feelings of the heart. Jirou however has the experience of being rejected(at least this is how he feels) by someone he'd loved. He never really recovered from it, and has a hard time seeing things clearly. Shiori is going all out now(more reactions than actions), but it because she sees her possible future of dating Jirou being threatened by his interest in Akari.

What a way to sum up the season. Shiori has always known what she wanted. But up until recently hasn't really acted on it. Jirou has liked Shiori for a long time, but feels she has already been rejected by her. His self esteem is at an all time low, and is lacking in courage. He can't really see clearly what is going on because he's not able to deal with it. He's going to have to make a decision on his life and it's course, or be forever miserable. Akari is Akari. She may not be the most verbal loud about her feelings, but her actions from day one have been honest. This Story Is Just Getting Started! BRING ON SEASON 2 PLEASE!!!

yeah, i held off on this one subbed because i found the entire 'marriage practical' thing goofball and impossible. i've gotten to the ending now in Edub and i've enjoyed it. mostly. it is not exactly a complex show, but it was interesting in many ways.

waifu war Shiori vs Akari, S1. the results are...

Akari wins. obviously. due to the following: screen time, sex appeal, beauty, bountiful energy, even while conflicted over her crush (the blond) she still gives Jirou attention and 'fan service', when the crush bombs she goes wholeheartedly into wowing Jirou's world as hard and as intense as she can. that final date in this episode with Akari and Jirou just cements Akari's status as 'waifu for laifu'.

but, Akari does lose out on the crush conflict. plus how she can chatter about lots of things, but she can't just tell Jirou outright that she wants to do 'adult' stuffs with him and 'date his brains out'.

Shiori... just loses on every point. screen time is next to nil compared to Akari. yes, she's beautiful and normally sexually attractive and knows Jirou for years. yes, she's sure she wants Jirou from the start. but she has ZERO confidence or ability to 'vamp it up' to hook Jirou and show her sex appeal is just as good as Akari's. being adorable, pretty, and knowing somebody for years does NOT make a great girlfriend. Shiori can't even communicate casually with her target boy in her own dorm room in the final episode!

Jirou should go gyaru and let Shiori down gently and politely like an old old friend would.
